New C.E.O. for K.H.M.H.? Minister Says Yes; K.H.M.H. Says No
Today, word circulated that Doctor Michael Tewes has been chosen as the new C.E.O. of the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. Tewes, a veterinarian by profession, would be replacing Michelle Cox-Hoare whose contract was not renewed. And while some people have questioned the professional vet’s appointment, saying it hints of nepotism since he has family members on the K.H.M.H. Board, today Minister of Health and Wellness Michel Chebat said he could not give the details of the selection process, but feels that Doctor Tewes is qualified for the post.
Michel Chebat, Minister of Health & Wellness
“Dr. Tewes has extensive experience in administration. I think he has served in the past as a C.E.O. in three different ministries. So, for you to say and limit it to just personifying him as a vet, I think you’re shortchanging him. I can’t tell you how the interviews took place. I don’t know who took the interviews. As you all know, K.H.M.H. is run by a Board and they run their own affairs, so I cannot shed any light on how that process took place.”
Chebat said he knew of two applicants that applied for the post: Tewes and Nurse Chandra Nisbet-Cansino, who is presently with the Social Security Board. However, in an apparent contradiction to Minister Chebat’s statement today, moments before news time, the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital sent out a media advisory that the C.E.O. position has not been filled and that when a “suitable candidate is chosen, the public will be notified.”
