Vaccinations Continue at Swift Hall; 2300 Children Vaccinated
Since the start of the teen vaccinations in Belize District on Monday, approximately two thousand three hundred children ages twelve to seventeen received their first jab of the Pfizer vaccine. Today, a News Five team heading to Swift Hall in the Saint Martin De Porres area where adult and teen vaccinations were underway with support from volunteers attached to the Belize Red Cross.

Today at the Swift Hall, adults and children alike gathered to get vaccinated as an added layer of protection against COVID-19. Since Monday, two lines have been created – one for adults who are being administered the AstraZeneca vaccine while another was for the vaccination of teenagers with Pfizer.

Both Joano Campos and his fifteen-year-old sister, Glendy Escobar are getting vaccinated for the safe return to the classroom later this year. They attend Maud Williams High School and Gwen Lizarraga Evening Division, respectively.

Volunteers from the Belize Red Cross have been deployed across the country to assist the Ministry of Health and Wellness in the vaccination rollout process.

“We are very much happy to be assisting the ministry of health in the data information of the individuals taking the vaccine. We are doing the writing on the cards as well as the sanitizing for people doing the vaccine.”
While there, we caught up with athlete and Belize City Council employee, Devin Daly, who along with several others came out for their second vaccination.

“No hesitation. I trust in the process that once the country achieves herd immunity, certain relaxations wah happen and we wah get back to some sense of normalcy. I have a one-year-old, first and one and only, and so I believe that being fully vaccinated – myself and his mom – we di protect him.”
