US South Command Provides Field Hospital in Belmopan
Depending on your point of view, video circulating on social media of the setting up of a field hospital was either concerning or reassuring. It was a sneak peek of what the US Government, through the US South Command, will donate to the Ministry of Health on Friday in Belmopan. On the site of the University of Belize gym is a fully functional, moveable, state-of-the-art field hospital. The facility, which is valued at U.S one point one million dollars, will be set up to provide essential medical care wherever it is most needed. It is outfitted with forty beds, generators, and air-conditioning units. The donation comes through the US SOUTHCOM’s Humanitarian Assistance Program. The U.S. Embassy has stated that the U.S. Government is committed to supporting its public health response to the COVID-19 pandemic and whatever future health challenges.
