Buying Belizean For Holiday Meals
Neither Vice President Blake nor CEO Lane anticipate there will be any significant delays in getting those Christmas items delivered to Belize on time. It is also not expected that your supermarket shelves will run low on supplies for your Thanksgiving and Christmas meals. While your favorite brands may be not be as plentiful, Belizeans should be able to find what they need in local products.
Marcello Blake, VP, BCCI
“What we could highlight to the shoppers out there, when you look at that basic meal, the staple meal, majority of those items can be sourced locally. So, again it is looking at what we have locally and utilizing those. So again, if it is there is in fact going to be, and I’m not saying there is, but if in fact there is going to be any delay, there is always a local option that we need to remember and consider. So when you want your ham, there is local ham and local turkey. Your rice and beans is grown here. It is that you still could have a good Christmas and Thanksgiving meal with all things that are locally available.”
