Cabinet Approves Booster Shots and Will Look at Fuel Prices
In this week’s briefing, Cabinet expressed concern about the rising cost of fuel and agreed to a team to look at possible mitigation measures. The Prime Minister and the Cabinet ministers approved to draft a Public Private Partnership policy and the creation of a PPP Unit to mobilize private sector capita for development projects that align with government’s policy priorities. Ahead of COP26, Cabinet has designated the Ministry of Economic Development as the National Designated Authority, to seek accreditation to the Green Climate Fund. This will allow the MED to access up to US$50 million for programmes and help with transitioning the country to a low-emission, climate-resilient pathway for true sustainable development. And in some very good news for the fight against COVID, effective immediately, Cabinet has approved booster shots for all healthcare workers, persons 60 years and older, and for persons with co morbidities.
