Dr. Cuellar Says that Fellow Board Members Support the Minister

Earlier in our newscast, we heard from Doctor Fernando Cuellar on his views of the Minister of Health’s comments regarding the K.H.M.H. Board. Doctor Cuellar was a part of the K.H.M.H. executive up until last week when he tendered his resignation with immediate effect. He explained that the defining moment when he decided to step down as a board member was when he tried to consult with the other colleagues to get their feedback on Chebat’s comments, and he found that some of them seemed to support the minister.

“A couple of them actually came out in defense of the Minister. They were saying things like “Listen, wi nuh want she nothing publicly. Wi nuh give the impression that we’re fighting with the Minister,” And I say that how could I work with a group of people where the truth is right there bare and yet yoh wa be sensitive to the Minister’s image. Pretty much, I had said zero tolerance and I think that if I give one lee chance, like the creole word seh – horse know weh weak fence deh because it has happened. That has been the modus operandi of governments, of the political parties, of politicians. Once deh know they can bamboozle yoh, deh wa do it.”
