Placencia to get a Polyclinic

There is more development coming to another tourism destination in the Stann Creek West division. Placencia is getting a new polyclinic. Tourism Minister Anthony Mahler says that that community needs an adequate medical facility to serve visitors and residents alike.

“Health services are important. People want to know that they have access to medical facilities when they go to a destination. Placencia is one of the bigger destinations in the country for tourism purposes and so we believe that that area – a part of the entire tourism product – it is important for us to build a proper health facility there. It comes from a fund that we put aside from Harvest Caye, a small portion of the head tax goes into that fund and it was built over time. And so we are spending the money on a polyclinic in Placencia.”
