Belize Will Participate in Junior Pan American Games in Colombia
Belize Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association has announced that the first Junior Pan American Games is set to take place in Cali, Colombia from November twenty-fifth to December fifth, 2021. Belize is sending a delegation of twelve athletes and five officials for nine different sporting disciplines. The contingent will be led by the Chief of Mission, Deon Sutherland. The first group including canoe, judo, triathlon and athletics has already left the country and on Friday the second group- athletics, tennis and beach volleyball, will depart. The third group, including cycling, karate and sailing, heads to Colombia on November twenty-eighth. In terms of safety, the Pan American Junior Games have implemented strict protocols and all athletes and officials have to be fully vaccinated and must remain within the bubble of competition and training venues and their place of accommodation. The Belize Olympic Committee says despite the many challenges the pandemic has brought in terms of training, it remains committed to the development of our athletes and giving them the opportunity to compete at the highest levels.
