Some UB Classes Resume in Person: Vaccinations Required

The University of Belize says it remaining primarily online next semester, but it is preparing to welcome students back for a limited number of face-to-face classes in January. It will be a requirement, however, that students attending those sessions must be fully vaccinated.  A release from the university says that, “All UB students must provide proof of vaccination by thirty-first December 2021, to your respective faculties in order to participate in face to face activities in the January – May 2022 semester.” Since the University issued the release on Thursday, there have been questions about the extent of the school’s programs that will be offering face to face classes. News Five spoke to via zoom to interim President at the University, Vincent Palacio today.

“Coming Semester in January, some of our courses, particularly those courses that have labs, field experience, we are proposing that these courses be face to face. The online courses are here to stay. We will continue to have online courses, no matter what. But, we have to start to bring people back to school to the University on a face to face mood. So there are only some courses that we will phase in the face to face come January. The list of these courses is available for our students. There is a website that is posted that our students can find out which of these courses will be face to face. And also, quite  a few of our students have pre registered, they have early registered, so in their portals they will know what courses are face to face and what is still online. So, we encourage students to look at the portal to see what courses are still online and to see what is face to face. And of course, to facilitate the face to face students, we are making the vaccination mandatory.”
