President Biden Names Michelle Kwan New Ambassador to Belize
Today, the Biden Administration announced its intent to nominate three new ambassadors, and among them is Michelle Kwan, for Belize. Kwan is a two-time Olympic medalist and the most decorated figure skater in the United States. She became a diplomatic envoy in 2006 and was an active supporter of Biden during the 2020 campaign. The US President will also nominate Caroline Kennedy as Ambassador to Australia. She is the daughter of the President John F. Kennedy and former ambassador to Japan under President Obama. Furthermore, the U.S. President will nominate Robert Wood for Alternative of the United States of America for Special Political Affairs in the UN, with the rank of Ambassador. Belize has not had an ambassador since the Obama administration, as President Trump did not appoint one during his tenure.
