Low COVID Numbers Allows for Focus on other Health Issues
While the active cases of COVID-19 have been on a downward trend for some weeks now, Doctor Diaz-Musa says this gives healthcare professionals an opportunity to focus on other health problems. Here’s how she explains it.
Dr. Melissa Diaz-Musa, Deputy Regional Health Manager, Central Health Region
“It’s important for the general public to know that we don’t really get a break, we don’t really get a rest because there are other health issues that we also have to deal with. So with the opportunity that has been given to us with the numbers down a little bit, we are trying to look at increasing screening for cancer and other illnesses, look at the management of non-communicable diseases, getting our plans together for 2022 and also getting our emergency response together for 2022. And like you quite rightly said, trying to put a lot of focus on vaccinations.”
