And while Omicron appears ominous, interestingly, the number of people who have turned out for their vaccination and booster shots has waned significantly. Doctor Musa explained that the fully vaccinated population stands at almost two hundred thousand, which is about sixty-five percent of the target population. But that is under fifty percent of the total population.

“We’ve got to keep in mind that we do have a young population and we don’t have the vaccines for the under twelve. So we’ve got to keep in mind that the population that’s eligible for the vaccine is – we have about sixty-five percent fully vaccinated. We’ve got to definitely improve those numbers and continue to lead a campaign to show the benefits of getting vaccinated and simultaneously trying to ensure that persons understand the importance of getting a booster, especially persons in the first two phases that we rolled out in March, April, May, these persons are eligible now to get their booster shots and the booster shots have helped to reduce severe disease and death.”
