Karen Cruz’s uncle being questioned about her death
It will be four days since the body of ten year old Karen Mathilda Cruz was found lying in a clump of bushes about two blocks away from her home on Stadium Street. The standard two student of San Francisco Primary School in Orange Walk was viciously raped and then murdered. Although the police have still not made any arrest in the case, today they have detained the victim’s uncle. According to reports the man was the last to be seen with the little girl. The second suspect was released today due to insufficient evidence. However, police still have in custody forty year old Prospero Sanchez, a preacher from Yo Creek who is considered the prime suspect in the case. Sanchez is alleged to have written two letters to the victim, one of which suggests he wanted an intimate relationship with the minor. According to the Cruz family they met Sanchez a few months ago when he passed by their house selling fruits and vegetables. He subsequently became a close family friend and was seen visiting Karen Cruz at school. The police tell News Five that they expect that charges will be brought against one of the suspects sometime tomorrow.
RIP, Karen!
