American doctors perform surgeries in Orange Walk
The Rotary Club of Orange Walk has been involved in a community project of its own. This past week they hosted a team of doctors, nurses and technical staff who performed craniofacial surgeries on 35 patients. The Life Enhancement Association for People, LEAP, team performed two full days of operations on cases which included cleft lips, cleft palates, trauma scars and a full ear reconstruction. This team of doctors, most of who are from Texas are the first American doctors to make use of the new surgical wing at the Orange Walk hospital. Twelve prosthetics cases were also evaluated for the prosthetics team, which will arrive in August.
