Borders to Open February 7th to the Fully Vaccinated Only
Belize’s border crossings with Mexico and Guatemala are slated to reopen on February seventh. The reopening has been postponed twice already, but during today’s Cabinet meeting, time was spent deliberating exactly how it will all work. Several COVID-19 protocols will be put in place, but details have yet to be released. What we do know so far is that only fully vaccinated persons will be able to travel across, but the border stations will not be open for twenty-four hours, rather only between six a.m. to ten p.m. daily. We await further information from the Ministry of Health and Wellness. But, this is exciting news for the many Belizeans eagerly anticipating the reopening. The borders have been closed for almost two years, since April fifth of 2020, in response to the pandemic.
