Don’t Let Vaccines Go to Waste; Get Your Booster

The Ministry of Health and Wellness has had to dispose of tens of thousands of vaccines because they expired. This has caused the Ministry to take a closer look at its vaccination campaign. With over two hundred thousand Belizeans having received their second dose, Minister of Health, Kevin Bernard, is advising Belizeans to get their booster shot.

“We have about fifty two thousand six hundred, I believe, AstraZeneca vaccines that have expired and are no longer able to be used. Let me say though, in terms of the Pfizer, we have a little over a hundred and two thousand vaccines. We are ramping up our vaccine campaign in trying to get our citizens who have not gotten their boosters to try and get their booster shots. Remember we a little of thirty two thousand persons who have gotten their booster shots and we have over two hundred and add thousand Belizeans who have gotten, two hundred and twelve thousand Belizeans, who have gotten their second dose. So, if Belizeans that have gotten their second dose come out and get their booster we will be able to utilize those vaccines. But I just want to put one thing clear, maybe Dr. Musa will be able to speak to this, the Pfizer vaccines have a shelf life up to May, as per the C.D.C., that has been declared. So, we can utilize those vaccines up to the end of May.”
