Belizean Delegation to Jamaica to Gain Technical Support for Port Development
A delegation from Belize is in Jamaica to meet with port authorities and the Caribbean Maritime University. Minister of Public Utilities, Energy, Logistics and E-governance, Michel Chebat is heading the official delegation of Belize Port Authority officials on the five day visit. The group will meet with the heads of the Jamaican Ministry of Transport & Mining, Maritime Authority of Jamaica, Port Authority of Jamaica, and Caribbean Maritime University. According to a release from the Government Press Office, Jamaica plays a leading role in the international maritime industry. A primary objective of the visit is to gain technical support to help better regulate the maritime industry in Belize. The delegation is also exploring scholarship opportunities with the Caribbean Maritime University and capacity building for the expansion of cargo and cruise port facilities.
