Montgomery Daniel, Deputy Leader, St Vincent and the Grenadines
“One of the critical areas that is on the Agenda on the meeting is one of food security, not only in my country but across the region. Where a nation is limited with food, it can be a disastrous position. So, the cost of food is rising every day. This has to be, for leaders across the Caribbean, this has to be something on the agenda for us to come up with policies and programs to ensure that food is on the table of everyone. Yes, there are countries like Belize, like Guyana with large land space that can help to produce more food to feed the Caribbean. But, equally in the smaller island we have to find ways and means to help to build that process that we too can feed ourselves so that we are all in a position where each and everyone do not go to sleep hungry. It is important for all of us. So, this is critical and it is being discussed at this time at the meeting.”
