PM Briceño Shares What CARICOM Leaders Spoke About During Closed Door Sessions
The Thirty Third Inter-Sessional Meeting of the Heads of CARICOM continues. During day two of the meetings, the talks focused on issues the nation of Haiti is facing and ways in which the community can offer support. Additionally, climate change was on the agenda for today. While the working sessions are closed to the press, News Five caught up with Prime Minister Briceño earlier today outside a church in San Pedro Town where he went to observe Ash Wednesday.
Prime Minister John Briceño
“Yesterday evening we ended on caucus. We spoke about Belize Guatemala, we gave them an update. Then we spoke about Venezuela Guyana, they also gave us an update. And then today, we are going to be dealing with Haiti. Haiti has been going through a very difficult time, from the assassination of their President, hurricanes, flooding, earthquakes, all in one. So, they are almost at a point of not functioning. So, we as a community cannot turn our backs on Haiti. We need to stick with them. They are a member of our community and we must see how we can garner support for Haiti. Of course, today we are going to talk about the CCCCC, the climate change office in Belize. We are going to talk about COP26 and what are the steps going forward.”
