New Vaccination Strategy to Mimic Election Campaign
Minister Kevin Bernard made an appeal to those who have not been vaccinated to do so. As it currently stands almost seventy percent of the target population, twelve years and older have been vaccinated – and fifty percent of the overall population have been inoculated. And until paediatric vaccines become available for children below the age of twelve, Minister Bernard says that the ministry will be engaged in a new vaccination strategy. He likened the process to an election campaign.

“Whenever we get the paediatric vaccines for the younger children, we are going to go aggressively at the schools, at the homes, in the communities, on the ground to get the people vaccinated.”

“Speaking about vaccination numbers, I know since January, the numbers have remained stagnant with very little growth. What’s the ministry’s plan to revamp its vaccination campaign?”
“One of the things that I said, as you know we had set up testing sites and vaccination sites. So we are going to utilise those same individuals, because we have to move out of these vaccine sites and we are going to go into the communities. We are going to take this as if this is a political campaign – get people on the ground, get people in the homes, talk to residents and to try to convince those who have not been vaccinated to get vaccinated.”
