Details on Royal Couple’s Meeting with Marine Conservationists
During their stop in Hopkins Village for a Garifuna festival, the royal couple also met privately on the beach with marine conservation stakeholders, where information on the blue bond and other conservation efforts were shared. Blue Economy Director Beverly Wade was among those persons. While she couldn’t disclose all the details, Wade did share that the meeting is expected to create partnerships.
Beverly Wade, Blue Economy Director
“They are very much engaged with the environment. The conversation was all about some of the good things that they are doing globally, some of the things that they appreciate that we are doing in Belize. They were very impressed with what we are doing. It’s good to have them here as a part of the global community that’s looking at how we can address issues like climate change and also securing livelihoods because at the end of the day, the conservation of our natural assets is really to ensure that our people continue to benefit in the long-term.”
