Meet the New Directors of the Ministry of Health & Wellness
There are big changes coming at the top of the Ministry of Health. While it has been known for a few weeks now that former Director of Health Services, Dr. Marvin Manzanero, has accepted the new post of Director of International Cooperation within the Ministry of Health and Wellness, what happened with the other two director posts that were created? Well, the interview process has been completed and some well-known medical professionals have been tapped for the posts. Those names have been forwarded to the Ministry of Public Service for approval. Today Minister Bernard confirmed to news five that Dr. Melissa Diaz-Musa has been recommended for the post as Director of Public Health and Wellness, while Dr. Jorge Polanco has been selected as Director of Hospital Services and Allied Health.
Kevin Bernard, Minister of Health & Wellness
“All vacancies have been advertised, people have been interviewed and now it is in the process of getting to the Public Service Commission for the final approval. Selections have been made based on the panel that was put together for public service and the ministry and of course the union – I think that is how the panel is. So that has been completed. We are just waiting on that final process to get these people onboard. The Director of Hospital Services and Allied Health, the Director of Public Health and Wellness and of course the deputy Director of Public Health and Wellness and the Director of International Cooperation, which of course as you know has been gone to Doctor Manzanero.”

“The others? Can you give us an idea of who the others are?”
Kevin Bernard
“From what I know, Doctor Melissa Diaz-Musa did a wonderful job and was the one that the panel selected as the Director of Public Health and Wellness. And we have Doctor Jorge Polanco who will be coming over as the director of Hospital Services and Allied Health. As you know Doctor Polanco served many years as Director of Hospital Services and deputy director. So he has the knowledge and so I think that we are building a strong team to move the ministry forward.”

“What happens to Doctor Morey?”
Kevin Bernard
“Doctor Morey remains as the Deputy Director of Health Services; yes, he continues to serve in that capacity.”
