CARICOM and the Summit of the Americas
In the context of Belize and the Caribbean Community, Prime Minister John Briceño, who is the pro tem chair of CARICOM, has reached out to U.S. Senator Christopher Dodd who is a special advisor to the Biden Administration.
Christopher Dodd, Special Advisor
“Prime Minister Briceño has been so helpful. He invited me actually to meet with his colleagues as the chair of CARICOM. I was deeply honored to receive a letter from him in which he expressed the strongest invitation that I meet with his colleagues in Barbados. So I am very grateful to him. He also introduced me at a meeting of the heads of state, those who could stay beyond the meeting they had with congresswoman Maxine Waters. So I appreciate all of that. I think we need to concentrate on what we’re trying to do at the summit and that is in matters involving nation states and so forth. It may not be there, for whatever different reasons, we still want to talk about the region as a whole, including individual nations and so I am confident that will be the case as well.”
