PM’s Trip will be Funded by IFI’s
According to PM Briceño, his travels, in large part, will be covered by a number of international financial institutions.
Prime Minister, John Briceño
“Let me say that a large portion of the funding for attending these meetings will be paid by some of our IFIs. And finally, from Lisbon, I go to Suriname to hand over the chairmanship of CARICOM to the incoming president pro tempore, to President Santokhi of Suriname. The CARICOM heads will be meeting over three days to discuss regional matters. Thereafter, on the invitation of President Ali, I travel to Guyana for an official visit. It will be a long trip covering three continents, but all very important for Belize and in fulfilling my role as the chairman of CARICOM. This trip will help us to establish our connections with our Commonwealth brothers, give us the opportunity to meet face-to-face with our European partners in development and will put an exclamation point on our successful tenure as the CARICOM chair.”
It is expected that the Deputy Prime Minister Cordel Hyde will act as Prime Minister during PM Briceño’s extended absence.
