Belize Represented at Latin American Travel Association Meeting in London
Minister of Tourism, Anthony Mahler returned last week from a Latin American Travel Association’s meeting in London. He told us that the participants discussed with their counterparts the best ways on how to develop their respective economies. It’s a key meeting for a country like Belize which is hoping that we could soon tap into the European market. Mahler said that part of the meeting was a discussion with travel writers on how they can sell Belize more.

“Everybody has always been gung-ho on Belize, but the number one problem for us is direct air connection to Europe, so we have been working at a frenetic pace to build that air route, talking to major airlines in Europe to come to Belize. We believe that we are relatively close and hopefully soon we can have that announcement. Sometimes these things can take up to – from my experience, and from talking to the airlines – anywhere from six months to six years before they make a decision.”
