Story Picture
The San Ignacio Hospital has received an ambulance from the non-profit organization, Janus. On hand yesterday to accept the donation from Gabrielle Wollensak, Janus President was the area representative Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Daniel Silva.

“On behalf of the people of San Ignacio and Santa Elena, in fact of the Cayo District I would like to thank the Janus Foundation for this huge donation, this very generous donation. This donation it belongs to the people of this area. We want this vehicle to stay here to serve the entire community. The cry has always been that we do not have the ambulance in good shape and we are hoping that this will serve all the people of this area. And I urge you when you drive it to take care of it. It belongs to all of us.”

Since 1996 Janus has donated scholarships to the Conscious Youth Development Programme, given two fire trucks and furniture to the Belize National Fire Service and cooking equipment to the Cayo Center for Employment Training. The foundation says it hopes that within the next two years they will be able to establish a job training center to teach auto mechanics, construction, culinary arts and metal work. The Janus Foundation was founded in Switzerland in May of 1995 and in that same year established a project site at Maya Ranch in the Cayo District.
