God Save the King
As for the Belize Police Department, their riot proclamation will now be altered to reflect the shift in the monarchy. ComPol Williams told us more.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“We all have come to know that Queen Elizabeth the II has passed. I would like to take the opportunity on behalf of the Police Department to express condolences to the royal family. With the passing of the Queen and the incarnation of the new King, certainly when it comes to riots and as is provided for in the Criminal Code, the riot proclamation where it would normally say God Save the Queen, yes in that respect, we would no longer say God Save the Queen; it is now God Save the King. But, in terms of our day to day activity, there is no way the change in the monarchy in London is going to change how we operate as a department. Our guiding instructions, policies are given by the Executive, the Prime Minister and the Cabinet.”
