No Monkeypox Case Detected in Belize to Date

Belize remains free of monkeypox. The Director of Public Health Service also gave us an update on what the ministry’s advanced surveillance has uncovered to date. She also spoke with us on what you can do if you have a suspicious rash on your body that may require some medical attention.

“We continue to test for monkeypox on a regular basis. As I have mentioned before in previous interviews we haven’t had a case that fits exactly the case definition of monkeypox. But, because we have an advanced surveillance system we do continue to test and we still have not been able to confirm a positive case as yet. But just to be reminded, if you do have a suspicion, if you do have a suspicious rash or fever or anything else that you would think that you would like to be tested, please visit any of our health facilities. Throughout the country we are able to test for monkeypox and that is done in country.”
