Belize City murder appears to settle old score

A twenty-six year old Belize City man has been charged with the crime of murder in what looks like a long-delayed revenge killing. Steven Kelly is reported to have gone to the home of Hartwell Thompson on Lovely Lane, shortly after eleven o’clock on Saturday morning and threatened to kill him. He soon made good on the threat when he returned with a sawed off shotgun and shot the fifty-six year old man in the chest. Thompson later died in the hospital. According to a police report, the motive for the shooting appears to have been an incident, which happened sixteen years ago in which the accused’s mother was allegedly chopped and seriously wounded by the deceased. Kelly, who turned himself in to police, has been charged with murder and is on remand at Hattieville prison. Another man, Delroy Flowers, was grazed on the chin by pellets from the shooting and was treated and released from the Karl Heusner Memorial hospital.

  1. Justice James says:

I dont blame Kelly at all for what he did. It was not revenge; it was justice. That Woman was my Aunt and she suffered because of that Devil of a man; he ruined our family and made a son lose his mother. Now he is in hell where he belongs
