Ghana Vs Belize Football Match Set for November

Nanayaw Maponsah

Back in September, we told you that the Belize Jaguars Football Team has been preparing to play against Ghana’s top football club. Well, the Ghanaian team has confirmed that they will arrive in Belize on November fifteenth. The team plans to be here for ten days, not only to compete in the highly anticipated match, but also to engage the local football community. The C.E.O. of the football club is in Belize ahead of the upcoming game.  Here is what he had to say today.

Nanayaw Maponsah, C.E.O., Asante Kotoko Football Club

“These games you cannot underestimate or quantify the enormous benefits it brings to both countries and entities. Through sports we promote tourism; we promote international relations and also development of kids. I am very particular about up and coming kids, how we take them off the streets through sports. Sports are also business. It is a multinational, multibillion dollar industry and we have to seize every opportunity to take our fair share of this cake. And, we can only do that through collaborative efforts. Everybody knows Ghana to be a football superpower. We have been to three world cups already, going on to our fourth one, and we know the impacts that such a tournament brings to our nation. We have won the Under Seventeen World Cup on two occasions; we have also won the Under-Twenty, actually the only African nation to win the Under-Twenty FIFA World Cup. We believe that we can help Belize through these exchanges.”

“As you know, I journeyed to Ghana twice and these are some of the fruits we are reaping right now. And, I am definitely looking forward to this encounter between our team and the leading team out of Ghana and the exposure that our guys are going to have. I am sure that many of our guys are looking forward to the different games they are having and for us to develop the sport even further.”
