Emergency response team graduates 26 in north
It probably would not have saved the victims of the gas tank explosion, but in many accidents the difference between life and death comes down to the speed and skill of emergency medical personnel. If that is the case then the citizens of the two northern districts may be in luck, as the Belize Emergency Response Team has announced the completion of training for twenty-six emergency medical technicians, thirteen in Corozal and the same number in Orange Walk. According to BERT’s program coordinator Dave Hartman, graduates are working successfully in hospital emergency rooms along side doctors and nurses and the response by the medical community has been enthusiastic. A class is currently in progress in Dangriga which will finish on November thirteenth while a new session will open in Punta Gorda on November sixteenth. Anyone interested in E.M.T. training should contact the nearest hospital or district medical officer.
