Ilan Goldfajn Elected As New I.D.B. President
The Inter-American Development Bank (I.D.B.) has elected a new president. Today, during a Special Meeting of the Bank’s Board of Governors at the I.D.B. Headquarters in Washington, D.C, Ilan Goldfajn (e-lan gold-faj) was elected to head the bank. Nominated by Brazil, Goldfajn will take office for a five-year term on December nineteenth, 2022. As president, he is tasked with managing the operation and administration of the Bank which works with the public sector of Latin America and the Caribbean. In addition, he will chair the Board of Executive Directors of the I.D.B. and the Board of Executive Directors of I.D.B. Invest, which works with the region’s private sector. The president also chairs the Donors Committee of I.D.B. Lab, the Bank’s laboratory for innovative development projects. Goldfajn will become the I.D.B.’s seventh president.
