“The situation with my dad is that he has a very advanced state of leukemia.  It’s classified as acute leukemia and in this case, his blood and his platelets do not get produced naturally by his body.  And even so, his body continues to destroy these cells faster than they can get produced.  It’s terminal, unfortunately, and the only way that the medical body can help is by administering blood and platelets.  So the assistance we need at this moment, is a lot of donors that have O Positive blood, because they don’t want to use platelets from other blood types, as it presents a risk of mixing with his O Positive blood.  And of course, a lot of financial assistance to keep up with the medical bills at the KHMH.”

“Talk to us a bit about your dad and what you believe, or the family believes, has him in this particular situation.”

“My dad has always been a tough person, he grew up very hard, so he’s a very resilient person.  Late August, around the eighteenth, he was involved in a, he was the victim of a hit and run accident and he bled so much that his blood fell to critical levels, around four or five, and ever since then his blood did not recover naturally.  He always had to get blood and his platelets were always low.  Of course, it’s cancer so there is no definitive cause. My dad is saying, he doesn’t care about anybody getting charged or blaming anybody for this.  If the person is looking at this interview, if they are responsible, that they come forth as a responsible adult and at least help with the financial aspect of it.”
