Shyne Barrow Closes Deal with Walt Disney

Leader of the Opposition Shyne Barrow says he recently closed a deal with Walt Disney to create a motion picture, a television series, and a documentary on his life. He confirmed this with the media during the interview today at the launch of a literacy initiative at his alma mater Wesley Upper School, where he was among one of several speakers.  Barrow believes that the exposure will increase the number of visitors to the country.

“I did close a deal with Walt Disney and their subsidiary, ESPN/Andscape. That is to tell my bio motion picture, my bio documentary, a biographic TV series and a memoir. And the hope is definitely all of that will center around Belize, of course. So that definitely with a company such as Walt Disney which is one of the biggest in the world when it comes to entertainment, them putting out these products will certainly bring more exposure to Belize. We remain an economy that is driven by tourism so I pray and hope that millions and millions more people will be visiting Belize and want to consume product Belize once these products come out.”

“Yes.

“…so in turn that will create more revenue with hotels and…”

“Well yes, but that’s on a macro scale; that’s just for production. I am talking about when Walt Disney puts out a movie, it is an event. They sell to the world; they don’t just sell even to American audiences which is a couple hundred million people. So certainly what I will be selling is not just Shyne. The story of Shyne began on Curassow Street and it continues right here in all of the districts and every bit of Belize. So there is no Shyne story without the Belize story. So definitely people will get to see all the different parts of Belize that impacted my life and certainly as the next prime minister that means the entire country.”
