Diabetes Association sponsors concert
The Belize Diabetes Association is this weekend hosting a special concert for children. President of the Association, Beth McBride, says that since its formation in 1992, membership has been growing but not as fast as they were hoping, given the high incidence of the disease in Belize. This weekend’s concert in Belize City, McBride says, will give children an opportunity to know more about diabetes and how it can be prevented.

“The Diabetes Association is presenting the Sunshine Concert to entertain children and also to let the Belizean public know that the Belize Diabetes Association exists. And the sunshine concert will take place this Saturday April fourth at 2 p.m. at Philip Hall Therapy Centre at the Helpage Centre. Miss Lauren Burgess is going to entertain the children with stories and humor and Ray Packard will be playing the guitar and singing. There’ll be lots of participation songs and opportunity for the children to react to the music and the stories.”
The Sunshine Concert starts at two o’clock on Saturday afternoon. Children, who must be accompanied by an adult, pay three dollars in advance, five dollars at the door, while grown-ups pay only a dollar.
