A New Carrier, Jet Blue Flies Non-stop from NY to Belize

Belize has landed another non-stop flight from the U.S. to our shores. Today, the Belize Tourism Board announced that JetBlue will begin flying direct to Belize’s Philip Goldson International Airport from New York’s J.F.K Airport and Belize’s Phillip S.W. Goldson. This makes New York the eleventh U.S. city to offer nonstop service to Belize. JetBlue will operate year-round roundtrip flights on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. The inaugural flight to Belize is scheduled for December sixth. C.E.O. in the Ministry of Tourism, Nicole Solano says American travelers are quickly making Belize their favourite place to visit, with sixty-eight percent of all overnight arrivals by April of this year coming from the United States. C.E.O. Solano expects this direct route to and from New York will increase the growth of the tourism industry.

“Travelers want the most convenient access to their vacation destination, so if you have an option where you can fly out of the area that you live or a nearby city and fly direct to your international de uh, destination, you don’t have to have connecting flights or you don’t have to wait in the airport, it makes it a lot more attractive. This flight for JetBlue is not only important for tourism, but it’s also important for all of our Belizeans that live in that area and want to come home and visit Belize and visit their family and friends, and also vacation in Belize. When you look at the United States and Canada together, we’re almost up to 80% from North America as the target market for Belize, so having a JetBlue is very important. The East Coast is a very important market for us. We have traditionally had quite a significant, an amount of people coming to visit Belize from New York and the Northeast. So all of those connections into Belize is very important. They’re looking at three flights a week, so it’s not a daily flight yet, but that is still significant – Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.”
