Belize Basketball Teams Loses First Two Matches in CODICADER Games

The National Sports Council is hosting the 2023 Central American Council of Sports and Recreation (CODICADER) Under-Fifteen Games. Both basketball and table tennis are being played in Belize. The games officially kicked off today with Belize’s female and male basketball teams playing back-to-back matches inside the Saint Catherine Academy Auditorium. The female team faced off against Panama and lost the game sixteen baskets to forty-seven. The male team experienced a similar fate in their match against Panama. That game ended forty points to ninety in favor of Panama. We spoke with members of team following the game.

“Fih the game I think the boys gone out there a bit nervous. Some of them this is the first time they ever the pay competitive sport to. Overall we played a slack game. We had too much turnovers. Turnovers dah weh cause we dah game. With the amount of turnovers and nervousness I guess that is what makes us have that bad start and we just couldn’t recover on that bad start.

“We just gone in the game frighten because that is a physical team. We need just to put in work. We get scared. That is a tough team and I know if we meet them back in the playoffs we will dominate them because they are not better than us. We let ourselves down today and we will get back hard.
