MOHW Promotes Healthier Choices All Year Round
…and while a week has been set aside to highlight the importance of healthy living and making healthier behaviour changes, Technical Advisor Kathleen Azueta Cho says that it is something that should be practiced year round. She says that focusing on your mental health, among other basic activities, can impact your lifestyle.

“It’s bringing care and attention in the workplace settings, in schools and in communities. So we are working across various target groups and we are bringing importance on staying healthy. For example, avoiding sugar sweetened beverages, the importance of drinking water; we have beat the heat – avoid sugar juices and we promote the drinking of water. We want wellness to be something that we practice all year round and focus on the importance of your mental health as well. Taking breaks if you find you are feeling a little bit stressed out; there needs to be balanced between work life and the demands that we face in different settings. And so we need to make that part of every day of our life. It’s a lifestyle and behaviour change towards positive healthier choices does take time, but it is not difficult. It is a matter of being advocates. Us in the workplace, us at home, at school or wherever we are – we could be those who are pushing. Let’s make a little wellness place here. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy that would be so fancy. We just take a couple of minutes to relax or even taking a walk outside, getting fresh air. Those are all things that we can advocate for – wherever we are. And it doesn’t matter if you’re the only person doing it; we just have to remain consistent to make this part of our lifestyle.”
