ComPol Chester Williams Attends the IACP 2023 Conference, Expo

The International Association of Chiefs of Police is holding its annual conference and expo in San Diego, California and Commissioner of Police Chester Williams is in attendance. The I.A.C.P. 2023 is described as the largest and most impactful law enforcement event of the year and convenes over sixteen thousand public safety professionals who learn new techniques, advance knowledge and careers and equip their department for success. It’s about training, networking and education and ComPol Williams says he is fully engaged in the four-day event. He shares with News Five some of the immediate things that can be implemented in the department on his return.

“We get to see many presentations in respect to law enforcement. There were some very interesting ones that deals with the issue of recruitment of police officers, there were presentations that deal with police officers’ mental health; there were operational effective presentations, intelligence presentations and I partook in many of these different presentations with a view to see how I can look at best practices that are being employed by other police organizations as well as presentations from experts in the respective fields who delivered on different subject matters relevant to policing. And in addition to that, there is also a number of exhibitions being done by a number of organizations that would sell or engage in the selling of equipments. For example you would have those persons who are engaged in the whole surveillance camera system, the software that goes with it; persons that deal with the whole issue of crime management system – using different tools and software. We have firearms, we have drones, we have vehicles, we have whatever you could think about in the area of security is here at the conference being advertised. And so since we are having the A.C.C.P. Conference next year in Belize, I am also using the opportunity to invite some of these exhibitors to come to Belize next year and be a part of the A.C.C.P. conference as exhibitors. If we can get that then I think that it will give the Belizean people an appreciation of what tools are available for policing. And not just for police, but for security on a whole because persons who are engaged in the security industry, like security companies, can also benefit from what is being exhibited at these conferences.”

ComPol Williams says he returns to the country on Saturday. During his absence, Deputy Commissioner of Police Aaron Guzman will be acting as Commissioner of Police.
