K.H.M.H. Finally to Get CT-Scan

Minister of Health and Wellness Kevin Bernard also confirmed that the extended wait for a CT-scan (cat-scan) machine at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital is coming to an end. The national referral hospital has been without this equipment and patients have had to pay thousands of dollars for tests to be done at private health institutions. Two years later, Minister Bernard says that they’ve been able to acquire a top quality scanner which will soon been installed.

“The last update I have, they are finalizing the electrical in the room. The CT-scan is already on its way; in fact, the CT-scan should be in country any time now.  So what the supplier had to do is to ensure that the technical aspect of, so they have been in constant communication with their technical people at the K.H.M.H.  The building has really been prepared and there were some issues with some of the electrical [wiring] and so that is what they were finalizing. I understand that that’s now complete and so we are just now awaiting the CT-scan to come into the country and it will be installed and should be ready to go pretty soon. But K.H.M.H. is getting a top quality Fuji brand CT scan. They want to be the best in the country. The requirement of this is that the people from Fuji will provide the five-year maintenance through the supplier. And that the technical people from K.H.M.H. would have also gone on several training. So they will be constantly providing that technical support to them.”
