G.O.B. Removes Fees from all Public Hospitals, Except K.H.M.H.

Earlier today, the Government of Belize issued a release informing that it has approved the waiver of all fees charged by public hospitals in an effort to ensure that persons seeking medical assistance have universal access to quality healthcare. The statement goes on to say that the existing system requires patients to pay fees for services which poses a significant barrier to healthcare.  It is important to note that the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital is not included in the initiative as the K.H.M.H.’s needs will be assessed separately.  The removal of fees in public hospitals aligns with government’s goal of achieving universal health coverage and health equity.
