Audit team did not receive all necessary documents
Following the presentation of the audited report, Wayne Simon was questioned today about the absence of records required for the audit. While he did not want to say there was a cover up, he did say that the audit team requested the documents but never received them.

“We did not get any explanation from the person responsible, the records were just missing and they were making concerted efforts to locate those records.”
Marion Ali
“What’s your conclusion that no records exists for some of the transactions taken? Do you view it as a possible cover-up for wrongdoing, for fraud?”
Wayne Simon
“I would not want to get into that area and say that there are cover-ups. We requested the records and did not get them. Our thing is that we were given the assignment by the Prime Minister and his letter of reference gave us access to those records but if you don’t provide them we can’t have them and audit them.”
The hearing will resume at nine on Monday morning when the Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Health, Dr. Peter Allen, is expected to give his testimony. Before he takes his oath, the hospital’s Human Resources Director, Laurel Grant, will address the panel. The hearing will break on Tuesday and Wednesday since the venue, the Belize Institute of Management, is booked and will resume next Thursday and Friday. Another break is scheduled for December seventh, eighth and ninth.
