Medical Teams Have Been Dispatched to Investigate
Diaz-Musa says that the Ministry of Health is in the process of dispatching teams to each family that had interaction with the children and will monitor their cases for the next two weeks. The canvassing will not only include the schools, and the daycare facilities, but also the neighbourhoods where the children live.

“Our team yesterday spent the majority of the day both at Central Health Region in the Belize District and at Western Health Region in Belmopan, doing investigations, going to the schools and reaching out to some contacts. And reaching out to family members to in for surveillance purposes, really, to determine whether other people are sick. And the school has – already from we got in contact early yesterday, has already notified parents in the class that if the child is ill. If you have any concerns to seek medical care early, so those are the facts that we know at this point. And as I said, currently, our team, they’re on the ground, going to the homes of the children in the classes of the two children, of the two cases – the one known case and the second probable case, and doing health education, infection prevention and control activities, and a further discussion to determine if there’s anyone else who have been in contact with the case who is currently infected.”
