Doctors testify at K.H.M.H. Commission of Inquiry
The City Council is not the only body plagued by controversy. The Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital has also been making the news with its own share of scandals. When the Commission of Inquiry resumed today, the first to take the oath was Dr. Jose Guerra, an obstetrician and gynecologist at the hospital. Guerra confirmed that his company, Pharmabiz Limited, currently enjoys a contract with the K.H.M.H. for the provision of glucometers and testing strips used on diabetics. That contract, according to Guerra, was awarded by the Ministry of Health for the period April first, 2009 to March thirtieth, 2010.

Julia Castillo, Commissioner

Julia Castillo
“At that time did Karl Heusner have anything in place that does the same thing?”
Dr. Jose Guerra
“They had the One Touch.”
Justice Adolph Lucas, Chief Commissioner
“Do you know whether this arrangement, the finality of this discussion rather, was brought to the K.H.M.H. Board and approved or agreed that the introduction of this machines…”
Dr. Jose Guerra
“Sir, on Thursday Mr. Knowles said it and on Friday Dr. Rosado said it, that they knew.”
Adolph Lucas
“Dr. Rosado, the ex-C.E.O., yes.”
