Marvin Skeen wins Shell One Stop’s Suzuki Grand Vitara
The winner of the 2009 Suzuki Grand Vitara is…Marvin Skeen. Skeen, who is a frequent customer of Shell One Stop at the Corner of Cemetery Road and Central American Boulevard, participated in the ten-week V-Power raffle by SOL Belize. He was flabbergasted when he found out that he had won the grand prize—a red 2009 Grand Vitara valued at over seventy thousand dollars. And according to General Manager of SOL Belize, Joe Habet, the raffle, which is the second of its kind, was a good incentive for customers. News Five was there when the winning ticket was chosen and approximately one hour later when a happy Skeen came to pick up his new ride.

“As dealers we are very excited to participate in this promotion. It’s a way of the whole network and our service station giving back to our customers. People get excited about these events, and it’s good for business as well, so it’s good for the customers and its good for business—it’s a win-win situation for everyone.”
Joe Habet
“It was very successful for us, we saw a twenty-four percent increase in sales during the ten week promotion, which started November ninth and concluded on January seventeenth. So a twenty-four percent increase is considered a successful promotion so we are very happy with the support we got from the Belizean public.”
Customers received tickets for purchases of every fifty dollars of V-Power and premium gasoline.
Why people always win these things that don’t need them? Like the promotion Scotia Bank did a while ago – for every $1,000 you put in your account you get a chance to win $50,000. So, I asked the teller, “don’t you think someone who has a lot of money will win?” She looked at me dumbfounded.
