Contractor slapped with 3 counts for fatal traffic accident
Turning to the courts, five months after fifty-three year old Alton Roy Peyrefitte was killed in a traffic accident, a forty-two year old contractor, of Belama Phase two, Carlo Magno Romero, was slapped with three traffic offences when he appeared in court today. Peyrefitte, who was represented by attorney, Dickie Bradley, was charged with Manslaughter by Negligence, Causing Death by Careless Conduct and Driving Without Due Care and Attention. Romero was offered a bail of five thousand dollars plus two sureties of two thousand five hundred dollars, which he met early this afternoon. Romero is accused of causing the accidental death of Peyrefitte, on July twenty-ninth of last year when Peyrefitte was crossing the Northern Highway between miles two and three. Romero is due back in court on March third.
unfair for this guy,did not need to be parade like this on tv and all that.this guy is a professional and a productive citizen.
Professional or not he caused the death of someone due to reckless conduct! A vehicle in the wrong hands is a weapon. Have you seen how people drive on the streets and roads of Belize? Very reckless, with no common curtesey for pedestrians. Everyone is in rush to go where? Every place in Belize City is never more than 15 minutes away. Drivers down there have still not gotten the concept that they should yield to pedestrians even though it is one of the rules of the road. This begs for law emforcement…
Sad to think but I am almost sure he will get off with some pitance of a charge hence the reason motorists down there do not really drive the way they should. Much more can be said about this unfortunate situation and others like it.
Well in some cases we can blame the drivers but have you seen how these people walk/ride on the streets like they are blind.. i mean… if you’re driving and suddenly someone crosses the street its really rear to avoid them…
