U.D.P. moving ahead with disciplinary action against mayor

Zenaida Moya

Mayor Zenaida Moya Flowers is yet to have her day in court for criminal charges for twenty two counts of uttering a false and two counts of violating City Council Regulations. That was last October, but her party is moving full steam ahead to take disciplinary action against her. Moya Flowers has reportedly been served with a long list of offences which her party deems offensive both to her Party Leader, Dean Barrow and to her office as Mayor.

Mayor Zeniada Moya’s removal from office should be inevitable and impose as soon as possible. Her immoral and impractical actions clearly shows her lack of interest in the city; needless to say, the ongoing dispute within the party is a sign of anarchy and weakness. The UDP is lost in transition and focused too much on PUP issues rather than dealing with our social and economic problems.

As far as i am concerned all politicians starts off with a good heart and mind, but with a little time they loose sight of that and they put ” I ” on the word country. when the people are fighting to buy something to eat and survive. others live lavishly. Fortunately, we Belizeans will soon come to our senses and unit and make the government do what they are to do and make Belize prosper.

With that said, i leave this quote by John Emerich Edward Dalberg Acton, “Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men.”

i long for the day when our politicians are honest… and think of we the people before thinking of themselves…. good intentions are only that.. good intentions…. nothing but words…. we don’t need words from our politicians.. we need action…. 6 of one and half a dozen of the next… i’d love to meet the politician that is not a crook.

Mayor Moya should be counciled but not forcefully removed. The last Mayor still have not been charged or made to pay back the large sum he “gave to the poor” from the public funds. So why go after her for $70. I can agree that her accounting practices can be improved and he MO altered but she should not be treated the way she has been. She has bropught much to the party and like any wayward child she should be counciled but don’t kick her out the “house”. She can garner votes do not forget that.

my only saying to this particular issue is that the government instead of involving him self in issues like this he should focus on the country and its people, so he should forget about politics and not only be investing in education but to give students that motivation to further studies he can do this if he would creat a program in which students and outsiders will be approched, i think this will help alot i appeal the general public to motivate any one they see loosing interest in education. i am a secondary student

The Mayor must be made to realize that this is not a one man battle. When an appointed leader loses sight of her assigned job (which is to guide and direct her sub-ordinates) not complete with them, the culture of the council can become ugly and cut throat.
