Instead of detailed, ministerial vehicle gets totally derailed
An accident near the junction of Fabers Road and the Western Highway shortly after noon totaled a brand new government vehicle valued at over seventy thousand dollars. The vehicle was licensed and registered on January eighteenth 2010, and was on the road for only ten days. It is registered to the Ministry of Human Development, specifically assigned to Minister of State Juan Coy. Coy has now been reinstated after he fell from grace last year and was removed from that Ministry when he instructed the B.D.F. to release contraband and prohibited items such as the soft drink Squirt and Gallo beer from Guatemala. He was not in the vehicle at the time it flipped on the highway and shortly after the incident, the ministerial license plates were removed. 
A Bravo Motors employee, nineteen year old Lawrence Lewis, was driving the vehicle from Faber’s Road towards the Western Highway when he lost control and rolled over several times. Sources say that Lewis was taking the vehicle to be detailed. Because he was wearing a seatbelt, the mechanic did not receive serious injuries. He was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released while the wreck was towed to Bravo Motors. The management is not commenting on the accident and it remains to be seen if Bravo or the employee will be held responsible for the damages.
Why do we spend so much money on a vehicle. Seventy thousand dollars could feed a family or rebuild someone home or say send kids to school. Imagine how much money is spent on government vehicle every year. So now the minister will get another vehicle valued at seventy thousand dollars again. That is not making any sense, we are just talking on the topic of poverty and here comes another blow. If a minister vehicle is valued at so much, how much is the Prime Minister vehicle valued for? Fellow belizeans see what makes our country so poor. Let us start choosing some new heads to run our country, out with the old dogs.
that 70thousand dollars that has been waste on the vehicle for the gov’t could have went to the people of Belize, I don’t see any reason why can’t a government drive the same type of vehicle that normal people are driving, it is our money that they are taking and putting towards those vehicle. Come on Government open ur eyes and look at the poverty that is taking place in our country, that 70thousaaand dollars could have been used wisely on our society.
What a disgusting waste of resourses when many Belizean children are hungry and going without basic needs. Wonder who’s pocket this is going to come out of!
Why can’t the vehicle from one party be passed on to the other after elections. Will that hurt their political career to use the other party vehicle. Belizeans stand up and fight this is our life and the life of our future generation we are talking about. UDP PUP stop this fool, it is time to start thinking about the people.

There should be “BLUE” plates that easily distinguishes that it’s a “GOVERNMENT VEHICLE.” and the there should be NO TINT on these vehicles. But instead the license plates have “UDP MINISTER”, “UDP Mayor” and “UDP Senator.” Is this done to insult the people of Belize that they are above the law? As a former public officer who held my position with the most respect and adherence to the FINANCIAL AND STORES ORDERS that governs the upkeep and maintenance of government stores, the procurement of these stores and the guidelines for spending money this is an absolute insult to the “good book” that public officers must adhere to. Secondly it is a moral obligation for the MINISTRY OF FINANCE to ensure that these government vehicles are NOT tinted and that the proper protocol is followed in the upkeep of these vehicles; and also so ensure that these vehicles are not used as these people personal vehicles. Dah we cruffy haffu pay firstly for the vehicle, for the gas, the oil, the EXPENSIVE tires and the REGULAR and EXPENSIVE maintenance that BRAVO, JMA and BELIZE ESTATE benefit from! TAXPAYERS get another BUKUT!!!
the more things change the more they stay the same. political parties, while in opposition, are quick to point out the wanton waste the governing party permits and condones. it’s all rhetoric and vote-getting. when the foot is in the same shoe, they continue doing the same walk. and as always, it’s the back of the taxpayers that is being trodden on.
Why such expensive vehicles? It’s out taxpayers money paying for them. Why not get two for the price of one from Caribbean Motors? Same applies to the SUV’s, as I really can’t see the pressing need for them all to be top of the range Prda’s!
To save public money, the government vehicles should be pooled, and issued out, with or without a driver on an ‘as needed’ basis on official business only, and never allowed out on weekends or accross the Mexican border.
Ministers, CEO’s and senior cicil servants can afford their own cars anyway!
