3 charged for attacking St. Martin’s school teacher

Kerion Daley
There was an all out brawl at St. Martin De Porres Primary school on Tuesday after a teacher disciplined a student and his infuriated parents showed up to return the favour. When the dust settled that day, a teacher, the vice principal as well as several students had been injured and there were more angry parents on the compound. Well, those on the receiving end of the blows will be happy to know that three persons have been criminally charged for the incident. Kimberly Haulze, her sister Andrea O’Conner and their friend Kerion Daley are all accused of storming the classroom of teacher Daisy Aba and hurling accusations before attacking her. The three were charged jointly with Causing Unlawful Harm upon Carlton Robinson, a student of the school. O’Connor and Haulze were then read a charge of Assaulting a Police Officer, Sergeant Irma Anderson. But the charges did not end there and Haulze and Daley were additionally charged for Common Assault on two students. The trio pleaded not guilty to all charges. And while the sisters were offered bail of a thousand dollars each plus one surety of the same, Daley was granted a bail of one thousand six hundred dollars with no objection from the prosecution. The three are to reappear in court on March twenty-sixth.

It’s because of these same type of parents that Belize City is dealing with the violence and gangs that are now rampant. As a parent you should be the one to guide your children on what is right and what is wrong. Whatever happened to the old adage that it takes an entire community to raise a child. Why is it that parents will encourage their children to disrespect authority figures. Because the parents chose not to discipline their child, the teacher had to do it for them. Parents need to lead by example and the way these fools acted is not an example that should be emulated.
It is a pity that as teachers we cannot even discipline students…. and then we ask why our students are not performing…. hey if we cannot discipline for fear of being disciplined then how will our students learn… they are learning from parents that discipline is negative and if anyone tries to correct you we will teach them a lesson…. talk about a messed up society.
with parents like these, are you surprised that the children try to do what they want in school? if the parents can discipline the children, don’t want to, b ut want to attack the teachers for doing it, then they shouldn’t cry years from now on t.v. saying “i don’t know why someone shoot my child.”
I am with you all, if the parents theirselves, don’t have any education how can they teach thier kids, shame on them for, lets call them stupid. Even with out an education, you then have common sense to go on. RIGHT AND WRONG is it so hard to understand. I love my home Belize, but most of the people are making it very bad to live in, and when people destroy Belize an its people, they might as well destroy themself. Yeah and the parents never know why their kid got killed, but they know how the worthless money is coming in with out any one in the house working. CRAZY. I say good for them, you do unto others, as you do unto yourself. GOD BLESS BELIZE.
some belizean teachers dont know the meaning of discipline and if they do they take it too far,
parents on the other hand acted like outlaws, thats why we don’t have doctors,or professionals that would replace the same old faces that haunt belize we produce more criminals than level headed ppl.
