Siblings freed of murder charge; 1 witness murdered, 2 missing
Another nolle pros in court and two brothers charged with murder were freed for lack of evidence. Just after one o’clock today, the trial came to a sudden halt and Gilbert and Nelson Martinez were released when the prosecution indicated it could not continue with the case. The reason? Both police and the prosecutor were unable to locate two crucial witnesses. And even before the trial started, the main witness was killed. After almost two years on remand, twenty-four year old Gilbert and his younger brother, twenty-one year old Nelson walked free from the Supreme Court. They were charged for the death of Windell Ralston Allen, who died from a single gunshot to the face in March, 2008. The fate of the case rested in the hands of Natisha Dennison and Denfield Tasher Jr. since Steven Grant, who witnessed Allen’s shooting, was murdered in June of 2009. But the prosecutor, Elizabeth Purcell, could not locate Dennison and Tasher after trying for three days. Allegations are that on the day Allen was murdered, Gilbert and Nelson were actually looking for Tasher. A confrontation over a stolen cell phone ensued when they found him near a park on Armadillo Street with a group of men, including Allen and Grant. The brothers left and when they returned Gilbert reportedly pulled out a handgun and fired a single shot, which hit Allen to the left side of his face. He died the following day at the K.H.M.H. In July of 2009, Grant was killed by a single shot in the head on North Creek. Two men have since been charged for Grant’s his murder.

How can these guys go free!!! obviously one of them is responsible and since they are brothers one should be charged!!! It is ridiculous how someone can get off free after a cold and knowing crime like this!! UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mein what is Belize coming too?? Freeing these cold blooded murderers just because they threatened the witnesses and they were in fear of their lives to appear in court. You all will have your day too. The hypocricy of their smiles..
1. new law is needed, witnesses need to be put in jail for not comming forward. 2.Witness protection.

It’s beginning to seem like the “Old Wild West” in America before there was strong law and order.
It’s a shame that someone who commits murder in Belize gets aquitted when there is enough evidence to convict these cowards.You are so lame Prime Minister,what are you waiting for?When are you going to realize that innocent Citizens are loosing their lives because of your incompitence?
Will the two witness ever reappear or will they disappear forever, also? Is their life in danger even though they did not appear in court? If they return home then what happenes to them or their families? How many murder cases has this happened too in the last ten years?
TEN YEARS!!!!! People killed, witenesses killed or threatened with death? 350,000 population is a very small population, WHO is in control?
You know what prime Minister,people are going to start taking things into their own hands since you can’t do anything to solve the crime situation.Then you’re going to have a real problem
So they’re responsible for not only the original victim’s death but also the main witness. How can their mother smile like that knowing that her sons were responsible for another mother’s pain?
The laws are in place the Justice System in Belize just need to act faster so witnesses don’t ket killed and or disappear before the trial. Hire more judges…oh but this is more money! It is a dilema.
by the way what people need to do is “take things into their own hands” like do not remain quiet when there is a crime cometted; teach your children how to be beter citizens; fathers support your children… so yes take things into your own hands start teaching your chidren at home.
People…Cruffy ! hear me out…there is alot off things way bigger than this going on in Belize! Government and Law enforcement allow these things to happen so we can turn our attention the other way. Millions and Millions of dollars are being taken away from belizeans while people suffer and live in fear! Belizeans are being PIMP! A country is only as good as its Leader! WAKE-UP BELIZE…..
you cannot blame leaders, all this is about parenting and if these two men committed the crime they can run from the laws here but they cannot run run from God, cause God is a good and just God, he say vengeance is mine, so when you see things really go bad for these men, thet can’t blame nobody but themselves, to parents I say talk and do every thing possible in your power as parents to dicourage your kids from this illegal activities, keep track of where are your children after 11pm.

Easier said than done. Come forward. Who will protect you? Your family. We need to be able to videotape these pple and have that stored for evidence. Not with police, we have seen time and time again how files disappear, especially when the person being charged is a person who comes from a privileged family (money talks) or is a police officer being charged. Said to see that more and more the country is not being ruled by OUR GOVERNMENT but being RULED BY CRIMINALS. CRIMINALS who have no love for each other or worst their country ! We are getting no better than countries in the Middle East where you are living in constant trepidation and unease! WE ARE BECOMING A WAR ZONE! SHAME ON U CRIMINALS!!!! How can you not sit and think where is all this anger and hate taking you, your children and your family? How can you watch yourself in the mirror each day at the horrors you bring to others and example you set for those little ones around you that look up to all the evil you do?
One might be able to get over on the legal system but always remember that GOD is JUST and we shall all be held accountable for our actions.I noticed in the photo they’re all smiling completely ignoring the fact that someone else is greeving the lost of their loved one.Hold on to ur 10 seconds of victory but get ready for the wrath of GOD, he may bring a life time of pain for GOD is JUST.
WHAT IS THE PRIME MINISTER DOING ABOUT ALL THIS CRIME !!!!!!!, IT SEEMS THAT YOU CAN SHOOT AND KILL ANYONE AND WALK FREE, I GUESS NONE OF THE PEOPLE IN OFFICE FAMILY IS NOT KILLED SO THEY DONT CARE !!!
BELIZE WAS ONCE FREE , WALK AT ANY TIME OF THE NIGHT , NOW EVERY ONE IS LOCK UP IN THEIR OWN HOUSE ( JAIL )INCLUDING THE PRIME MINISTER, PEOPLE VOTE FOR PEOPLE WHO WILL MAKE A STAND FOR JUSTICE
